ECHC 2014-2015 year

Alas, 'tis that time of year.  The summer is be winding down and soon we'll be hitting the books once again.  This year, ECHC has adjusted the year-long schedule of our co-op days quite a bit.  We will have classes approximately twice a month, and the same set of classes will be taken throughout the year.  Many of the families were expressing their desire to slow down the class schedule and reduce their level of activities outside the home, so this was our way of helping co-op work for many of the families.

Soon the class schedule will be sent out to the co-op members and posted to this blog, and we will register for classes.  The specific dates for co-op will be posted shortly as well.  We are fine tuning it, but as of now we are set to begin on September 26th.  There will be a mandatory orientation meeting (even if you've heard it all before) - date and time TBA.

Not-Back-To-School Day at SPLASH!

ECHC has reserved the pool at SPLASH! from 12:00 - 1:00 on Tuesday, Spetember 2nd for the annual Not-Back-To-School Day!  The cost is $3.00 and is for all homeschoolers.  This fee allows you to stay until 5:00 during the open swim time at no extra charge.  Please bring CASH. 

Come enjoy the fellowship and celebrate not going back to school!

Book Sale

Well, it's about that time of year to think of selling used curriculum and getting a jump start on next year's curriculum.  ECHC is continuing the former LIGHT Book Sale at the Garden Way Church gym on June 13th from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.  If you are interested in selling your used curriculum, please email us at echcinformation@gmail.com.   

Presentation Night

Come join us on Friday, May 2nd from 6 - 9 p.m. for Presentation Night.  We will be showing what we've been working on throughout the term, by performing up on stage or displaying our projects on tables in the gym.  Snacks and desserts (some gluten-free) will be provided afterwards. 

SCIENCE FAIR!!

ECHC is hosting it's first Science Fair on Friday, May 30th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  We are grateful that Garden Way Church is gracious enough to allow us to use their gym for the event.  We have welcomed area Christian homeschoolers to join us in showing their science presentations, as well.  If you are interested in having your children participate, please email us at echcinformation@gmail.com.  Please drop by to see our projects!

Preparing for Fall Term

We are enjoying another great term of interesting classes, new friendships and support for homeschooling families.  Now is the time when we begin to prepare for Fall Term classes. (Yes, this soon.)  We have found out that if we get our classes set up before summer-time, we are much more prepared for next term and we can enjoy our summer break a bit more.   So, those families that are truly interested in joining co-op next term are welcome of let us know of classes they are willing to offer.  Please send us an email, introduce yourselves, and give us your thoughts.  We'd love to get to know you.

Registration

Membership is closed for Spring Term, 2014.  Please try to catch us in the fall if you weren't able to join us this term.

We will register for classes starting Tuesday, February 4th.  Members will receive their registration form by email on Tuesday morning.  Please submit your registration form no later than Sunday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. so that we can process the information and the teachers will know how many students are in their classes.

Spring Term will run from February 21st - May 2nd.  We will not have co-op on March 28th for Spring Break.

We will begin voting for our classes for Spring Term, 2014 starting on Monday, December 30 - January 8th.  Click here for our Spring Term Preliminary Class List.

ECHC is able to register new members ages 9 and up only for Spring Term because our 2 - 8 year old classes are full.  If you are interested in joining, please contact us at echcinformation@gmail.com and we will email you a membership application so you can be in on the voting process.  Please be sure to read our co-op info and FAQ's page for detailed information about our co-op. 

Planning for Spring Term, 2014

It's hard to believe that Fall Term is half-way over.  We've had a great term so far, and the kids are enjoying lots of great classes.  We are already beginning to plan for Spring Term, 2014, which will run from mid-late February through April.  Watch for information on the Planning Meeting coming up.  We'll gather class ideas, answer questions, and get you plugged into co-op then.  For personal updates, please give us your email and we'll add you to our contact list.

Fall Term Registration is CLOSED.

We are closing registration for Fall term, 2013 as many of our classes are full.  We are glad that so many families have joined us!  There are 44 families being blessed by co-op this term.  If you did not get to join us this term, catch us in the Spring.  Keep checking here for updates on planning and informational meetings.  They will happen over the winter break, December - February.

REMINDER

The Annual Not-Back-To-School-Day at SPLASH! Lively Swim Park is coming up on Tuesday, September 3rd from 12:00 - 1:00.  The cost is $3.00 and if your eyeballs can take the chlorine any longer, you're welcome to swim until 5:00, free of additional charge.  Come enjoy the fellowship!

Not-Back-To-School Swim Day!

Eugene Christian Homeschool Co-op is pleased to announce the continuation of the ever popular Not-Back-To-School Swim Day.  Join us at SPLASH! Lively Park on Tuesday, September 3rd from 12:00 - 1:00.  Their address is 6100 Thurston Road in Springfield.  The cost is $3.00 per swimmer. 

ECHC has reserved the whole pool for homeschoolers from 12:00 - 1:00, but you are free to continue swimming during the open swim time until 5:00 at no extra charge.  Feel free to pack a lunch, enjoy the playground and make a day of it.  Come enjoy the fellowship!  Any questions can be emailed to echcinformation@gmail.com

Fall Term, 2013 Co-op Planning Meeting

ECHC is having a Fall Term Planning Meeting for co-op on Thursday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Garden Way Church. This meeting is mostly for those new to co-op or interested in joining. We will share information about how co-op works, go over the schedule, and answer any questions you have. If you are ready to join, we can help you apply for membership. Eugene Christian Homeschool Co-op Fall Term Preliminary Class List

ECHC is working steadily to get ready for Fall Term Friday School classes.  We are off to an awesome start by gathering a list of classes that our members are willing to offer.  It is great to see how God has gifted our parents with talents, and how generous they are by sharing those talents and their time with our kids!  We are truly blessed.

Here is our PRELIMINARY class list, with the age group it is appropriate for and a brief description of the class.  ECHC members will soon vote on these classes.  The classes with the most interest will form the schedule.  If you intend on joining ECHC and are interested in being a part of this voting process, please contact us ASAP at echcinformation@gmail.com.  We'd be happy to help you understand how co-op works and where you can get plugged-in this term.  Some of the classes below may appear to be duplicates, but they are offered in different ages groups, and are therefore listed more than once.

Other Co-op information:  Our Fall Term will begin October 4th and will end November 22nd.  Our end of the term Presentation Night will be on November 22nd.  Membership dues will be $25 per family per term.  Each class will have material fees ranging from $4 - $14 (but most are around $6).  The class fees are charged once for the entire term.  Please see the FAQ section below or email us at the above address if you have questions.

A mix of Beginning, Intermediate Irish step dancing – combined to perform 1 dance at Presentation Day.

From the Institute for Excellence In Writing, a structure and style writing class for 7-11 year olds. Weekly homework.


* Memorizing American History PLUS (6-8)


Memorizing American History dates, concepts, geography and some science through songs from youtube.com, etc.


* Food/Science and Art (8-12)


Learn basic science concepts through fun food and art projects. for ages 8to 12
